It's Been A While...

Yes, we've been a bit slack with the posts. It's been an incredibly busy fall, both in my personal life and with rescues. It seems like spring puppy season, but about six months late! Puppies everywhere...

Willow, our Border Collie puppy who was very sick, was adopted and loves her new family. She still gets to see her foster mom sometimes, and goes to day care with her foster siblings. We love it when rescue relationships are made!

Blue, the little hound/spaniel/Aussie mix is in his new home and doing well with his training. He's a shy pup, but his new mommy is going to great lengths to help him build his confidence and be a happier, more relaxed boy.

Moppy has also been adopted! She lives near Atlanta, Georgia with a bearded collie sister. However, her owners did a DNA test on her, and turns out she's not a beardie, but half border collie and half miniature poodle! What a mix! Nonetheless, her people adore her.

A few weeks back, I came across a puppy in the road out in the country. I brought her home, named her Sandie, and put her up for adoption through CHAR. Sandie now lives in Cary, NC, and has a wonderful family with first time doggie parents :) She has them wrapped around her little finger!

In foster care right now, we have:

Merlot (Harper), who is a 5 month old Aussie/Border Collie/Kelpie cross. Merlot is being fostered in Greenville, SC and being trained by a great foster mom! Hopefully, she may have a future in doggie sports.

Also, we have the three Irish Huskies - Guinness, Jameson, and Bailey! Bailey gave us a scare with meningitis, but she's all better now, and her brothers Jameson and Guinness are little stunners. They are about 10-11 weeks old now.

Joey is a two year old, black bicolor toy Aussie. He was dumped at the shelter for being too yappy - however, I think we've heard him bark once while he's been here. He already has a possible new mom, so we're keeping our fingers crossed!

Lastly, we just got in three beagle mix puppies that a kind lady found in a den in her woods. They are young and nervous, but with the right socialization, they will be great little buddies for a family! We have Uno and Odie, the boys, and Shiloh, the little girl!

Well, stay tuned for more CHAR info as we get it! Thanks for all your support!

Hello hello!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. CHAR certainly has - Saturday morning, we received the news that Willow, our sick border collie puppy, was feeling miraculously better and could go home!
Willow has since been home, gotten a bath, eaten plenty of food, and played like a little 12 week old baby should! We couldn’t be happier.
Thanks for all your prayers! We’ll keep you updated on how little Willow does. And if you have anyone looking for a lovable baby border collie to add to their family, send them our way!

Willow

Meet Willow! She is a 12 week old border collie puppy who was saved from a shelter in North Carolina. Willow is a beautiful tri color BC, with the cutest ears you've ever seen.

We tried to spring Willow from the shelter before she got sick, but unfortunately we were still too late. Willow is has been at the vet since Thursday, fighting for her life. Please keep Willow in your thoughts, and if you can donate to her care, please consider helping. You can find her ChipIn here.

An Introduction

For the past five years, I have been active in Australian Shepherd and Boykin Spaniel rescue, fostering countless amazing dogs. Recently I have begun to take on some other critters, however - sometimes strays, sometimes shelter babies I just couldn’t leave to die. It came to my attention that these rescues also needed a “name” to attach to, and so I created Carolina Hearts Animal Rescue.
I have no grand aspirations of operating with multiple foster homes, or taking on numerous (or, more numerous than usual) animals. I cannot spend hundreds of dollars on each dog. I can, however, give those that deserve more than a cold cell and a needle safety and love while they await their perfect family.
All of my rescues will be posted here and on my Facebook page. Please share with your friends and fellow animal lovers!
